The Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Festival taking place on July 13, at Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park, exposes attendees to a large selection of sweetgrass basket and merchandise as well as opportunities to engage in hands on sweetgrass basket making demonstration.
Local artists and crafters will showcase handmade quilts, Gullah dolls and an assortment of handmade art works for sale. Entertainment will consist of local singers, gospel groups, storytellers, praise dancers, the Adande African drummers and dancers and much more.
The festival activities and events are designed to provide a family fun environment where children can enjoy face painting, water slides, jump castles and engage in an assortment of educational arts and crafts projects. Delicious Lowcountry foods and drinks will be provided by local food vendors and restaurants for purchase. The Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Association is sponsored in part by the S.C. Arts Commission, the Town of Mount Pleasant.
